Did You Know India Has Its Own Grand Canyon?

Tucked in the state of Andhra Pradesh, explore India’s own Grand Canyon.

As the river Pennar winds through the hills of Erramala Hills in Andhra, it cuts a deep gorge which will remind one of the panoramic Grand Canyon in Arizona, US. The forces of nature have played the architect at Gandikota, and the ancient rocks have been sculpted by the river into picturesque wonders.

You no longer need to travel far across the continents. India’s Grand Canyon is competing with the international favourite for a spot on your travel bucket list.

Along with the canyon, other sites that warrant a visit here is the Gandikota fort, built in the Vijaynagara era. There are also two ancient temples, dedicated to Madhava and Ranganatha. There is also the ‘Rayalacheruvu’, with its perennial springs and plantains.

You can pair this visit with a trip to Belum caves. This is the second longest cave in India. It is also the longest underground cave in India.
