If we’re talking about a stoner comedy, we’re obviously talking about humorous music and wacky lyrics. “Prabhuji” from the movie ‘High Jack’ is such an example, where devotional music and modern eccentricity have been combined to create a perfect blend of religion and tomfoolery. The song has been composed by Arjun Saikia, and has been sung by Asees Kaur – and we must say that it is a job well done.

The composer Saikia was quite surprised for obvious reasons, when the director Akarsh Khurana asked him to compose a quirky Bhajan song, complete with crazy lyrics and retro electronic music. The music video begins with a scene inside the airplane and the cockpit, where everyone is taken aback by the sudden devotional music. This is probably the first time when passengers would be ‘tortured’ by means of a ‘techno-bhajan’ by a female passenger, and the torture soon begins. The looks on the passengers is one of utter despair and disgust at the ‘boring’ music and lyrics, with the addition of a crying baby. The occasional hilarious element is added by a man rubbing his pistol near his temple, indicating his dismayed status, and the angry passengers. The video finally ends with complete chaos and confusion on the plane, and Sumeet Vyas’ character throwing up in the toilet. These little moments of fun and the occasional gun in and out of the frames takes us back to the actual story where four men try to hijack a plane with hilarious results.

If you think that the video is not funny enough, you pay attention to the lyrics. The unconventionally weird lyrics like ‘Prabhuji, udke main aaun tohre paas,” are actually a pun on the passengers on the plane. The Bhojpuri-influenced lyrics move on to ‘coming to meet God on a plane’, ‘God being my soul mate’ and ‘God being a first-class passenger’, which can totally make you stifle a giggle in the middle of a crowded room. The music is something out of the world, as it is a mixture of retro electronic music and beats – not something that you would usually expect out of a ‘bhajan’.

By the end of the video, you will be definitely enjoying the last few beats of music with a smile on your face. You will love the peppy lyrics and background score, and even the video where everything seems to go wrong. Prepare yourself to take this crazy flight on 18th May 2018, and enjoy the fun for yourself.
