Action Sequences From Junglee That Were The Toughest According To Vidyut Jammwal

It's action all the way for Vidyut Jamwal in Junglee

He’s known as one of the top six martial art artists in the world and now his fans will get to witness his action moves soon, in his forthcoming adventure film, Junglee, where he has performed some never-seen-before action sequences. In the film,Vidyut Jamwal fights against the poachers and he has some of the toughest action sequences from fighting the cops with only one hand while the other is handcuffed, fighting on moving bikes, jumping from heights and also wielding the dangerous weapon Urmi that’s used in Kalaripayyatu.

Vidyut says that this is the first time he has pushed himself over the limit to perform these tough sequences. He has done a black flip from a car window which is an extremely difficult action to perform. Speaking about the same, Vidyut said, “This action sequence was in car and since in the past I’ve got out of the car window in different ways, the only twist I could think was back flip. I’m proud I pulled it off. It was tough because you can’t see anything that’s there behind you as you wriggle out of the small hole. It required calculations and instinctive estimation. We did many takes from different angles, it wasn’t easy to get out.”

Vidyut took almost thirty takes for a scene where he is attacked with a sword, by a villain, while he’s on a bike. He had to do another backflip for this sequence. “To ward him off, I had to do a backflip and land behind the bike. It was an important scene and required around thirty takes because sometimes the bike would fall and sometimes I would fall myself,” added Vidyut.

Shooting for the action sequence where he is hand-cuffed was another tough one for him says Vidyut. He had to think of a solution to carry off this stunt, he said, “I had to come up with an innovative solution to carry off the stunt. Since there was a table around, I decided to use it to leverage myself in the air and use the body of a man standing by me, to reach to the other, and then the third. The difficulty here was not to hit the guy too hard on his chest while using him to move forward. It required perfect timing and arm-leg coordination.”

While shooting one of the sequences, where he had to dive from three floors up, Vidyut even injured himself and had to get stitches. “I was wearing a safety harness but I miscalculated the jump from third floor and hit my head on iron rod. There was a sudden rush and I sensed blood dripping. I could see people gather on the floor below as I hung on for five minutes. Once I was back on feet, I was rushed to the hospital, I got stitches on my head,” said Vidyut. However he was back on the set immediately and completed the scene from where he had left it.

Vidyut even mastered the use of two swords simultaneously for another sequence.“The idea here is that a human being can do the same thing with both sides of the brain. That’s the reason I have swords in both my hands and had to use them simultaneously,” explained Vidyut.

Looks like the action packed Junglee is going to be a real treat for action lover. Junglee releases on 29 March along with Salman Khan Production’s Notebook.
