When they say “music is a Universal language”, you must believe it. This phrase is powerful, not just in words, but also in actions. When the 19-year-old Kira Iaconetti was diagnosed with an irregular disease in the brain for which she couldn’t hear musical notes, or sometimes her own singing, the girl decided to give it a fight!

This girl from Seattle, United States of America, Kira Iaconetti is in love with music and aspires to be associated with it forever. Her dreams are not bound to being a doctor, or an engineer, but this girl dreams of becoming a singer! When her passion of singing became a major threat to her living, causing sudden seizures and triggers while she sang or simply, listened to music, the doctors had something else planned for her. Kira’s tumor was diagnosed by the doctor which is in the form of rare epilepsy. Now, while you sit and cry about your problems which could be solved if you just concentrate on them, this girl had to undergo a surgery for her unusual condition.

According to Kira, before the surgery whenever she would try to sing or listen to music, she felt ‘tone deaf’ and couldn’t hear anything in this process. But, inside the surgery room, the doctors wanted her to be active with her voice, that is, she sang during the entire process. Are you aware of the song ‘Island in the Sun’ by Weezer? Yes, that is what Kira sang! That song has a line that goes ‘I can’t control my brain’, probably Kira chose this very song intentionally or was it just a coincidence?

Whatever it is, Kira is an inspiration for all of us out here. If you think your difficulties are surmounting one after the other, think of Kira and her strength to face it all. Dr. Hauptman and Kira’s parents made sure that she is given full support. Kira even sang in almost perfect pitch along with playing her guitar in 48 hours of the surgery! We are proud of Kira, and there we hope she can achieve her dreams now that she is all good.
