Google, Do Everything For Me So That I Can Do Nothing

If we hand over everything of our lives to Google, maybe it’s time to head over to a beach and hibernate there

Google, Do Everything For Me So That I Can Do Nothing

This morning I opened the newspaper and the first thing that hit me was this huge ad by Google that just said ‘Make Google Do It’ and then went on to tell me how I could ask Google to play music for me, in my home or even in my car, or just in my phone or gadget, ask it to cast videos for me, ask Google to control the lights in my home so that I don’t even have to get up and reach all the way to where the switch is (my my what a long distance it truly is from the couch to the switchboard! Goodness!) and so on.

Of course it said about how I could now ask Google to literally do anything for me, and it would be taken care of.

What will be the hue of me hibernating, while Google assistants do everything for me?

The fun thing that tickles me no end is that, first, people like you and me (well, not like me in the literal sense, if only you could peep inside my brains you would know that) first work our wonderful behinds off to create something like Google and it’s smartness quotients, and then again, we pay money to the same creation to do random work for us, while we do what?

Recently I watched a spine chilling episode on this dark science fiction drama series hugely popular and trending on Netflix, that showed how a young beautiful modern woman wakes up one day and finds that she is inside a machine. And no, that’s not even the most horrific part. The most horrific part is when she realizes that she is no more the real version but has woken up as the clone of herself, which her ‘real’ self got created so that the clone could do things such as help to prepare the breakfast, switch on the lights, open up the blinds, play music, turn on the shower and so on, at the touch of a button, while the ‘real’ self had to do nothing.

What if you wake up one day and realize that your inventions have taken over and are playing around with you instead?

Freaky, when you wake up one day and realize that what you actually created ended up making you a prisoner inside a chip that is inserted inside a machine, and you will have to live for eternity like that, thanks to your brilliant inventions.

Nothing. That word that can be a punishment or a present, depending on how you wish to look at it. Since Google is already doing all this, may I request Mister Boss to get a Google Debo to create the stories I do (not the ones that are always moving around in my head though) and get it shared here, while I go and do my ‘nothing’ maybe on the beaches of Goa. Sounds like a plan!
