After their family reception in New Delhi, which was attended by PM himself, the power couple ‘Virat & Anushka’ hosted a grand reception yesterday at St.Regis Lower Parel for their friends from Cricket and Bollywood.
Virat looked dapper in an Indigo velvet bandhgala and silk blend Jodhpuri trouser. Anushka slayed a gold lehenga, which was hand beaten silver thread, textured sequins and cut organza flowers assembled on an embroidered tulle base to create the actor’s ethereal outfit. She accessorised her look with a necklace and earrings handcrafted with rose cut diamonds, solitaires, and briolettes from the Sabyasachi fine jewelry collection. Like the Delhi reception, the outfits for the Mumbai event were also designed by Sabyasachi.
The event was of course a starry one. Stars from bollywood as well as cricket were present to wish and bless the newly-wed couple. Bollywood industry was represented by Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Rekha, Kangana Ranaut, Karan Johar, Bhumi Pednekar, Rajkumar Hirani, Vidhu Vinod Chopra, A.R Rahman, Anupama Chopra, Ramesh Taurani, Boman Irani and few others.
From the world of cricket and other sports, ace badminton player Saina Nehwal her mother, and Captain of Indian National Football Team Sunil Chhetri, Indian tennis player Mahesh Bhupathi, Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni, Yuvraj Singh, Harbhajan Singh, Zaheer Khan, Ravi Shastri, Ishant Sharma, among others.
Post the wedding celebrations, they will travel to South Africa where the Indian captain will prepare himself for the upcoming series and Anushka will spend New Year’s Eve with him. Thereafter, Anushka will return to Mumbai in the month of January to begin the next schedule of Anand L Rai’s film co-starring Shah Rukh Khan.
