Janhvi Kapoor wowed the nation as she debuted alongside Shahid Kapoor’s brother Ishaan Khattar in the 2018 hit Dhadak, inciting sparks of her similarities with her late mother and yesteryear superstar Sridevi. Since the release of the film, she has been critically as well as commercially acclaimed by audiences and critics alike.
She has been roped in to work with Karan Johar in his latest, Takht, which is a multi-starrer with some of the biggest names of Bollywood. However, it seems that Janhvi has another film in her kitty before she starts shooting for Takht. If rumours are to be believed Kapoor is all set to star as Gunjan Saxena in a biopic of the same name. Gunjan is India’s first ever female combat pilot who was an active participant in the war at Kargil in 1999. The rumour now seems confirmed as Janhvi was spotted wearing a blue fighter combat dress around the studios- apparently for the shoot of the poster of the film. She was carrying off the look with panache.
Gunjan Saxena is the first female recipient of the Shaurya Vir award, as she and her fellow lieutenant bravely flew over dangerous skies to rescue soldiers injured I the course of the war.
As per reports, she will start preparing for her role of the fearless aviator with basic flying lessons, and a look at the lives of the Air Force officers. She has also spent some time with Gunjan to understand and mould her character and the story better.
Another source said that since the time her look hit the internet, people who are used to seeing her in a glam doll avatar have been taken aback. The film and the look itself are being kept quite hush-hush. However, many industry insiders have so far praised Janhvi for having the confidence to carry off a look that is so unlike to what she has been seen as so far.
The Gunjan Saxena biopic is all set to be produced by Karan Jahar’s Dharma Productions.
All we can say is that we are quite excited to see this new non-glam Janhvi amaze us with her acting chops and prove her mettle to one and all.
