From the mass-loved 3 Idiots to critically acclaimed Victoria and Abdul, Ali Fazal has won hearts all across the country, and beyond, with his stellar performances and boy-next-door looks. He is now all set to star in director Pradeep Sarkar’s next directorial venture “Arranged Marriage”. Fazal has reportedly expressed his excitement for being a part of this project which is set in the present year itself.
Arranged Marriage as per Fazal, touches upon some very essential phases of love, relationships, families that are involved in marriage. The movie is on the floors with its shooting set in Kolkata. Sarkar is a veteran Bollywood director who has been the name behind successful movies like Mardangi, Parineeta, etc. The cast and crew are in the city shooting its first few days of the film.

Speaking about director Pradeep Sarkar, Fazal said that he is extremely excited and honored to be working with a director who had given such powerful and meaningful cinema to Bollywood and has worked with some of the best talents of Indian cinema so far. His words testify his anticipation for this movie which is a unique, contemporary love story set in Kolkata.
The female lead(s) haven’t been confirmed yet but rumors are that Kajol and Patralekha will star in the movie opposite Fazal. Kajol was also the protagonist in Pradeep Sarkar’s previous project “Helicopter Eela” which gained the actress acclaim after quite a long hiatus from the silver screen.

Fazal was last seen opposite Judi Dench in Victoria and Abdul in 2017 and will be next seen in a Netflix original named ‘Mirzapur’. The teaser of Mirzapur portrays Afzal in a rather ruthless avatar as a gangster, Guddu Pandit who kills before he thinks. Time will tell whether that will be in absolute contrast in comparison to his role in Sarkar’s “Arranged Marriage”.
This will be Fazal and Sarkar’s first collaboration, and it goes without saying that both their fans are waiting in anticipation to witness what they create on the silver screen. It’s a wait-and-watch game till the film releases.
