Actor Ali Fazal and veteran British actor Judi Dench-starrer Victoria & Abdul has been nominated for the Oscars in not one but two categories! Victoria & Abdul is Fazal’s first major international project in which he played Indian servant, Abdul to Queen Victoria. I interviewed Ali just before he was to leave for the filming of Victoria & Abdul, he was very excited about the project and was looking forward to it.

Now Ali has, even more, to look forward to, it is being said that Ali is in talks with a Hollywood director for an interesting role in a biopic and if that happens then he will be the first Indian actor to feature in an international biopic. Well, Ali I sure am keeping my fingers crossed for you!

Ali has worked hard and that seems to be bearing fruit now since his career is only moving upwards. The project is said to start rolling sometime this year. There are many more things about Ali we bet you didn’t know.

Did you know Ali is currently dating his Fukrey co-star, Richa Chadda and he even took to Instagram to make his affair with her public by posting a cute picture with a caption that read: “One of my favorite pictures. है तो है ।”.

Unlike other Bollywood actors, Ali did not make his acting debut with a Bollywood film and then move on to Hollywood but he made his debut was a cameo in Hollywood romantic comedy The Other End of The Line.

Even though we can call him a Hollywood actor today, acting was not something Ali had planned to do. He became an actor by default. He had always dreamt of becoming a basketball player but had to give up that dream because of a hand injury. He then took to debating and acting in school plays as an alternative. He went to The Doon School in Dehra Dun and later graduated from St. Xavier’s College in Mumbai with a degree in economics. Besides watching movies Ali also loves to play the guitar.

Besides acting, Ali is also into philanthropy. He has helped raise funds for various causes and especially for the cause of cancer and has raised awareness about the dangers of smoking. He took part in a concert in aid of the victims of the Nepal earthquake and also organized a drag race in Lonavala in memory of Paul Walker.

Good looks, combined with talent, philanthropy and a romantic! Richa Chadda sure is a lucky woman!
