First of all, throw all the existing notions you have of travelling for business. No Bollywood. No Hollywood. No Television. Let’s talk reality for a change. It is not going to be all fancy and fun. Well, it might be but that’s not the objective at least. As a business traveller, you will always have to be on your toes. You not only need to make sure to reach the meetings on time but also make the best of it! It can be daunting to travel and yet keep your find focused on the purpose and details of the meeting. But you can do it all with ease and finesse, should you choose to follow these simple ABC of travelling for work.
A For Arrive BEOFRE Time

Now, a lot of us take the same morning flight for an early morning meeting or an evening flight for a meeting at dusk. This saves a lot of your travelling time and you arrive at your town of meeting with just enough time to reach the destination. Sounds good, right? But IT IS NOT!
You must give yourself plenty of time before the actual meeting commences. What if your flight is delayed by a couple of hours? Your little “time saving adventure” would cost you an important meeting. You can’t let such a foreseeable mishap sabotage your meeting. You have to be more sincere and smart than that. Thus, make sure your travel plans leave enough hours between your expected arrival and the time of meeting.
This way you can reach the client’s office on time and with a relaxed state of mind. Additionally, you can also spare some time to explore the city or even revise the key meeting points.
B For Booking The Right Stay
This may not sounds as important as it is but here’s the thing- you have no idea about this city’s traffic, walk ability, and conveyance facilities. You must select your place of stay after doing thorough research. Needles to say, try to book an accommodation as close to the office of meeting as possible. This should be your priority while searching for the place of stay.
If someone else is booking the accommodation on your behalf, make sure you communicate your preferences to them. Tell them the specific areas in which you’d like to stay at.
Also, not to forget, save all the bills for reimbursement.
C For Clever!

You have to be very smart and clever at everything you do during business travel. It all starts from the time you pack. DO NOT carry a checking luggage. A carry-on should be more than enough. Pack accordingly! If you have to carry a blazer, don’t! Wear it on your flight instead. That will save you a lot of space and also save your jacket from unnecessary wrinkles.
Make sure your laptop case has everything important like laptop charger, portable cell phone charger, pen, diary, pen drive if required and so on. If you are carrying a presentation or something similar in hard drive, make sure you have it on the cloud as well. Prepare for the worst!
All the best and Happy Journey 😉
