Even if you think of yourself as someone who personifies patience, there will always be someone at your work place to prove how wrong you have been. It is one thing to maintain a friendly relationship with one and all at work, and it quite a different thing to have somebody else’s nose being poked into your business. After all, you all are there to work, and there should be a certain degree to which you should mix and mingle with your co-workers, lest it should hinder your professionalism.
The sad story is that a lot of people forget to keep that in mind with their curiosity taking new heights with each passing day. Where did you go during the weekend? What does your partner do? Who is that person in your Instagram story? The questions keep getting more personal and annoying with each passing day. So here is what you can do at the very onset to keep the nosy people at bay:
It Is Your Body Language That Matters

You must have noticed that if you are a friendly person, then you will have innumerable people approaching you for different reasons. While that sounds great as an ego boost, it can get a bit out of hand. So before that happens, think of how you can change your body language at work, so that the nosy colleague thinks twice before intruding into your private space. Even if you find it difficult to be rude, there is no harm in accepting that you do not like to discuss your private life with one and all.
Put On Your Thinking Caps
If you have been dealing with a nosy co worker for a while now, it is about time you started thinking of answers that would give them a fair hint that you are clearly not interested in the conversation. Think up something that would catch them off guard and they would think twice before asking you anything even remotely personal. You can politely ask them to respect your private space with a sweet smile on your face, so that would not make you a snooty person and it would also drive that nosy colleague away.
Make Up Excuses

It should not be much difficult to ignore the whole situation with polite excuses. After all, you are at work and that is your first priority. So whenever you see an over inquisitive co-worker heading towards your cubicle, be prepared to not entertain anything that makes you uncomfortable. You can do that by making up excuses like you have to finish a presentation, or you are getting a call, or the manager wants to see you. Keep repeating this and surely the nosy co-worker will pick up on the hints and we can hope you will not be bothered any further.
With these simple tricks, you can say no without having to sound rude.
