To begin with, find your answers for the question- “Are You a Solopreneur?” Now, if you find an affirmative answer to that question, come back here to learn how to be better at it. Being a solopreneur is a rather new profession, at least terminology wise. Solopreneurs have always been out there but we just didn’t know what to call them. Now that we do, let’s come to the point.

While there are lots of advantages of being a solopreneur, it is not exactly easy to be one. In fact, it is as difficult as it gets. But that doesn’t mean is not doable. A LOT of people are acing it and you can too. Just stick to the basics.

Have A Clear Purpose

Having a clear mind and vision in that clear mind is always important, especially when you are a solopreneur.

Solopreneurs are known for being driven by purpose. If you still don’t have one, you might have a tough time surviving this. You need to know what you want and then act upon it. If your purpose behind going solo really is independence, then stay independent and make it count. If your purpose is to run a huge business establishment, solopreneur-ship is definitely not an answer.

You also need to know that being a solopreneur does not mean you have to be one forever. Sometimes, if you plan it to be, being a solopreneur can just be the means to a greater goal. Then again, as long as you are clear about it and have a purpose.

You Are Forbidden From Being Lazy

As a solopreneur, the only edge you have will depend on your quick response to opportunities. You cannot let any opportunity slip away. Make the most evident feature of your profession – freedom, your biggest strength. The swiftness in response that you are capable of as compared to companies where people have to consult other people, must be taken advantage of. Also, when you are busy NOT being lazy, get creative. Use your freedom and try different methods and practices. Come up with crazy ideas and implement them. That’s where you can stand out and use your independence as your greatest strength but only as long as you are NOT lazy!

Self-Scrutiny Is Going To Be Crucial

Be your own manager, supervisor, and ultimately be your own boss.

Believe it or not, reviewing and analysing your own performance will make ALL the difference. There is nobody watching your back. There is also nobody to review you or put a check on you. Being independent comes at a cost and the cost is that you will have to be your own manager, your own boss! (Literally) For example, you can come up with a rewards system for yourself to increase your accountability. Or you can do a monthly review to analyse your performance. Whatever works for you! But make sure there is a check and balance of power. Do not let yourself loose (and lose).

I hope you are ready to ace your time as a solopreneur. If you have decided to be one, you have already begun!
