We are always investing, either time or money or both. And we are doing it on one thing or the other. Sometimes it is an actual monetary investment and sometimes it is a relationship and sometimes it is just your work in general. All of these investments cost you a lot. While being so ridiculously caught up in these investments, we tend to forget about one most important and priceless investment that we must make. The investment in ourselves!

The physical and psychological stress from work can really take a toll on you and your life. We all know work-life balance has been a myth and people more often than not, prioritise work and end up paying for it one way or the other. Work-life balance or not, you HAVE TO invest in yourself. There is no risk. And there are unlimited returns! Investing in yourself require you to do certain things-

Take Care Of Your Body

If it’s feasible, you can always walk to your office.

What good is anything without a healthy body? Think about it! Promotion, wealth, power, everything is meaningless without a fit and fine body. You just need to stick to the basics and take care of your health. Don’t drink more than you should. Do not smoke! Sleep well. Drink lots of water. Go for a walk every night. Go for a run every morning or you could do yoga or exercise! The point is to move your body. Good health will anyway convert into better performance. Better performance will obviously mean more money. There you go! RETURNS!

Take Care Of Your Mind

Your body is just flesh and bones without your mind. You know what they say- “It’s ALL in the mind”. And if it’s really ALL there, you got to take care of it. Make sure you are letting your mind grow along with you. Always leave room for improvement and in fact, deliberately work on it. Keep learning new things and allow your mind to constantly update. In today’s work environment, skills and knowledge are more important than EVERYTHING ELSE.

Secondly, take your mental health very seriously. Talk to people whenever you feel stressed out or sad. Give yourself time to relax and process your thoughts. As I said, it is all about making the small changes.

Keep investing on your body and mind. Be consistent and you will see the results.
