If you have seen the movie Sonu Ke Teetu Ki Sweety, you would know that when your bestie dates the wrong person, it can cause massive damage not only to the friendship, but to all equations involved.
You too can’t rest in peace if you constantly feel this person is going to be a big mistake that your best friend is getting himself or herself into.
So what do you do that can help resolve the problem, without breaking up your friendship you both share?
1. Ask Your Friend Why They Like This Person So Much
It is possible your friend has dated a lot of other people in the past, but there is something about this person that makes them want to spend more and more time in their company. Instead of getting all worked up, maybe you could first ask your friend why he or she likes this person so much. Once you know their reasons, it will give you a better understanding of whether or not your fears are that genuine.
2. If You Think Your Friend Could Be In Danger, Speak Up

Of course love is blind, and dating is blinder. No one comes to a date wearing their true colours on their sleeves, and someone who is in a dating mode and is kind of in love will rarely be able to see what may turn out to be dangerous for them in the near future. Talking to your friend can bring out a lot of information – if the person is abusive, is a stalker, has a tendency to manipulate, is using your friend, may be here for the money – anything absolutely. If you think this could be the case, speak up and don’t worry about the friendship right now. Once your friend realizes it themselves, they will thank you for sure.
3. Don’t Nag About It
Come on! Your friend already has others (probably) nagging them, such as parents or a sibling, so you nagging on top could actually backfire. It is important as a best friend to warn your friend and try to make them see that things could be different than what they think. But sometimes, it is better to say it in a gentle way and let your friend take a call. You can’t really take their decisions for them, can you?
What you look for in someone you want to date may be different from what your friend is looking for in a date. So instead of passing a judgement, be a bit more open.
