To be or not to be has been a complicated question since the ages but it has only gotten more so since we have evolved from clarity to confusion or I’d rather say- From ‘Laila-Majnu’ to ‘Half-Girlfriend’
In a culture that is so drunk on the idea of love and obsessed with relationships, I wonder if it is even as crucial as marketed in KJO films or Spark novels? Sure, it is soothing to hear “Ja, Simran Ja Jee le Apni Zindagi’ as we watch her run for the love of her life with blurry eyes, but is that what Simran’s Zindagi summed up to?
“Is it that important to be in a romantic relationship?” Relatively so!
It is not the most important part of our lives but it sure does hold its own importance. This realization occurs only when a relationship is not formed to find your ‘missing puzzle piece’ but only to complement the entire puzzle that you are.
But Self-Love Is Even More Important!

Relationships should evolve you as a person, not cripple you. You are not in it to lose yourself only to thrive with this intimacy. And that thin line is only distinguished when you are not in it to seek validation but to enjoy the companionship. In other words, it is great to spend weekends together but it shouldn’t turn you into a dependent sloth who would feel lost when stepping out without their precious one. The day when you feel incomplete in your own company is when you ought to know that Relationship is after-all NOT that important.
Measure The Importance Of Substance, If At All!

There comes a time when you both are together only out of habit. Love makes its appearance in little things that go unnoticed but the relationship survives, regardless. And the magic preservative respect! The relationship may have lost its charm to time or ambitions but respect towards the person you once looked at with rose-tinted glasses and had absurd midnight conversations is what preserves the relationship. The importance of relationship lies not in love, but the respect that you have for each other. When you lose that deep unexplainable admiration for the apple of your eye is the time you know that relationship is NOT that important.
All For Love!

It is a relationship that gives you the power to be powerless, the strength to be vulnerable and the dignity in being barefaced. When you find this balance on your not-so-smooth rope of relationship, you know it IS important!
