They say one of the best ways to make sure your dating and/or relationship goes well is if you can communicate well with your partner.
You may be doing your best, but if the literature of the dating world keeps changing as fast as the swipes on your dating app, it can actually be hard to keep up.
If you’re serious about dating and staying on top of your game, it’s time to know what these terms mean in the dating world.
Dating Or Ghosting?
The term ghosting has been around for quite some time now, but in case you’re not sure what it means, it’s when you’re dating someone and then suddenly get off the radar. In this case, all contact stops from one person, and there’s no phone calls, texts or any messaging. This mostly means that your date doesn’t want to be with you anymore, but is not able to tell you personally.
Slow Fading The Ghosting?

A slow fade is more or less like ghosting, but it is not as abrupt as ghosting and is a more drawn-out process. In this, the person will slowly reduce the amount of contact and communication they have with you. It could be a long time to respond to texts, not always taking the calls, cancelling on plans, and slowly moving away from your life.
Benching It Out
It is possible that you met someone who you really feel you are hitting it out with and maybe have gone out on a few dates and had a good time. But suddenly this person does not want to meet you in person anymore. This is what is known as benching when you are being left out on the bench while your date is trying to figure out the possibilities with other dates.
Haunting Back The Ghost Way
The term haunting comes in when the person who ‘ghosted’ you makes an appearance back in your life, but not directly. For instance, they may not get in touch with you over phone or text, but could suddenly start following you back on social media and maybe ‘liking’ your pictures.
Now that you’re more equipped to handle these terms and what they mean, happy dating!
