Love and heartbreak are the universal themes of every romantic song. The Mumbai-based pop rock four-piece band Sanam has released their latest single by the name of “Tu Yahaan” on their official YouTube channel that has received over 6.21k views in two days of release. This is an original song by the band, which is constantly exploring and pushing its boundaries by trying to experiment with different forms of music.

The Sanam music-band consists of the lead vocalist Sanam Puri, the guitarist Samar Puri, Venky S. on bass and Keshav Dhanraj as the drummer. The lyrics of the song have been written by Siddhant Kaushal, and the music has been mastered by Shadab Rayeen. The song was recorded by Ishan Naik, and was produced by Raw Footage Pictures. Gujarati actress Mehr Mahajan is the only female character in the song, playing the role of the three men’s beloved.
The three-minute video song begins with three young men who have suffered an unsuccessful love relationship. The storyline moves back and forth to the men with their ladylove, ending with rejection. The music video brings in the elements of conventional melodrama – fire, a destroyed setting and loneliness – symbolizing the current mental state of the men. Clearly, the stories of three different men are bound together by one woman, love, and later, heartbreak.
As for the music production, they have used a background score heavy with piano, drums and synthesizer to bring out the rock-pop feeling, and add to the powerful flavor of the song. The lyrics speak of pain and heartbreak, where the unrequited lover feels a great feeling in the absence of his love. The language is simple, everyday Hindi and devoid of complex vocabulary – which makes it easier for everyone to relate to the simple beauty of the song.
Sanam had wowed us with their debut “Main Hoon” for the Hollywood action-movie, ‘The Amazing Spiderman 2’ (2014). Later on, they were widely recognized for their rendition of Bollywood classics such as “Pehla Nasha”, “Gulabi Aankhein” and “Lag Jaa Gale”, as well as for their original compositions.
Along with “Tu Yahaan”, they have released two more singles this year – “Sanam Mennu” and “Amar Mallike Bone” – all under the music label Kurian & Co. With that in mind, let’s experience love in its multi-colored forms once again.
