A new and unexpected music video hit the T-Series YouTube channel yesterday. It was a new version of the ‘Tera Ban Jaunga,’ the much loved song from Kabir Singh, that has been sung by Akhil Sachdeva and Tulsi Kumar. But this one has been turned into a song being sung only from the female perspective, and hence the name, ‘Teri Ban Jaungi.’ And the singer behind it is Amruta Fadnavis, the wife of Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis.
It has been recreated as an unplugged track, with the music having been produced by Bharat Goel and Ashish Rija. The original song has of course been composed by Akhil Sachdeva, while the lyrics have been penned by Kumaar. Amruta Fadnavis hasn’t really been able to imbibe the song with as much quality as the original, but her singing isn’t all that bad. She has handled the vocals well.
About the song, Amruta had to say, “When they asked me to sing a cover song from Kabir Singh, I immediately selected ‘Tera Ban Jaunga’ because it is my favorite song in the film. We wanted to do a female version of the song, so we titled it ‘Teri Ban Jaungi.’ I really loved the music and the way Tulsi Kumar and Akhil Sachdeva have sung the song.”
The soundtrack of Kabir Singh has really become quite a big hit. With songs composed by various artists like Mithoon, Amaal Mallik, Vishal Mishra and Sachet–Parampara, this album has had a few of its tracks covered by other artists already. While ‘Bekhayali’ was covered by Dhvani Bhanushali, ‘Mere Sohneya’ was recently re-rendered by its original music directors Sachet Tandon and Parampara Thakur.
Despite the criticism it received for its content, Kabir Singh has been doing very well at the box office, with the Rs 300 crore milestone not too far away from being achieved.
