We knew Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper will be performing onstage during the Oscars, but so casual was their arrival on the sage that it came as a surprise to see them start their performance. The announcer didn’t even announce their performance in fact. And what followed was a sizzling rendition of the song Shallow and later, an Oscar win for the same song.

Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper grabbed eyeballs not just due to their performance, but their steamy chemistry was also something that took audiences by surprise. Towards the end of the song, Bradley kept his mic aside and sat beside Gaga to sing the final portion together. The way their eyes met after they delivered the final lines, could only be described as romantic.

And this made great fodder for Twitterati to ramble about, especially because it was all happening in front of Bradley Cooper’s girlfriend, Irina Shayk. However, this was most likely part of an act, and Shayk was later seen hugging Gaga after her win. Whatever the case, the performance of Shallow and the warm chemistry between the two stars was really one of the highlights of this year’s Oscars.

Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper’s song Shallow from the film A Star Is Born won the Academy Award for Best Original Song. This track was competing against four other songs this year. One of them was When a Cowboy Trades His Spurs for Wings from the Coen brothers film The Ballad of Buster Scruggs. Another one was All the Stars from Black Panther. The other two were The Place Where Lost Things Go and I’ll Fight from Mary Poppins Returns and RGB, respectively.

Shallow has had quite a run this awards season, even as it grabbed honours at Golden Globe, the Critics Choice Movie Awards and even the Grammys.
