Katy Perry is out with the new song called ‘Small Talk,’ which follows another single release recently that had come in the form of ‘Never Really Over.’ Instead of a music video featuring the star singer, a lyric video has been released featuring two actors who showcase the theme of the song. This track talks about the awkwardness that ensues when two people break up and yet keep bumping into each other every now and then.

‘Small Talk’ beautifully expresses this embarrassment with the lines, “Isn’t it weird that you’ve seen me naked. We had conversations about forever. Now, it’s about the weather, OK.” Another chunk of the song goes, “I just can’t believe, we went from strangers to lovers to strangers in a lifetime. Now just memories. We’ve gone from strangers to lovers to strangers.”

The lyric video shows former lovers who are forced to work in the same office together. Both of them are lamenting the prospects of awkward small talks that they’re being forced to have due to them working together. It’s a simple yet beautiful video that creatively integrates the lyrics of the song in it.

Katy Perry had been teasing the release of ‘Small Talk’ since a week through her Instagram. Various snippets from the lyric video were shared by her before the track finally arrived on streaming platforms.

Back in May, Perry launched another single called ‘Never Really Over.’ The song did pretty well on the charts worldwide, and its music video too grabbed a lot of attention. This clip has a 60s/70s vibe going for it, and features Katy embarking on a post-breakup therapy trip to a wellness retreat where she tries stuff like acupuncture, outdoor yoga, dancing and more.
