The makers of upcoming film Genius have released the third song from its soundtrack, called Holi Biraj Ma. As is evident from its name, it’s set in the festival of colours, and has the film’s leading man showcasing his dance moves while completely swathed in holi colours. The song has received a huge response on YouTube, even as it is occupying the Trending section of the website right now.
Himesh Reshammiya is the music director behind this track, while Jubin Nautiyal has provided the vocals for it. Holi Biraj Ma however, is by far the weakest among the three songs released for the film Genius. Its composition borders around the line of cheerful and restrained but never really embraces any of these qualities. And this is the most important reason it fails to hit the mark.
Himesh Reshammiya uses traditional holi instruments that easily create the mood of the festival. The lyrics by Manoj Muntashir also manage to do the same. However, the use of the word “Saaraaraa” in various portions of the song is most likely something that Reshammiya has added, given that it’s clearly something that we can associate with his brand of music. The lines are grounded and straightforward. Like this one for instance – “Log bataye jamuna tat ke. Roop hai tera sabse hatke. Jo dekhe woh raasta bhatke.”
The music of Genius is indeed managing to create quite a buzz for its release. The first song from the film, called Tera Fitoor, is indeed a pretty catchy and soulful melody that has been sung by Arijit Singh. The second song released by the makers is also a hummable piece of music, called Dil Mere Na Sune.
Genius is a film being directed by Anil Sharma who is known to be the man behind 2001’s immensely popular flick, Gadar: Ek Prem Katha. With this new venture, he is launching his son Utkarsh Sharma who was incidentally also present in Gadar, playing the young child. The film also stars Ishita Chauhan who had debuted as a child actor in Himesh Reshammiya’s Aap Kaa Surroor, back in 2007. Apart from them, Genius also features Mithun Chakraborty, Ayesha Jhulka, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and K. K. Raina in pivotal roles.
It is scheduled to hit theatres across India on August 24.
