Gold Tamba is the name of the first song from the soundtrack of upcoming film Batti Gul Meter Chalu. This track’s music video which is out now on the T-Series YouTube channel, features two of the film’s lead cast members, Shahid Kapoor and Shradhha Kapoor.
Anu Malik who is also responsible for the other songs from the album has composed Gold Tamba. Nakash Aziz has handled the singing duties of this track. Gold Tamba, as the name lets you know, compares the two elements, and contrasts them against Shahid Kapoor’s character who is singing the lines.
The chorus lines hence turn out to be pretty funny. Like these for instance – “When you getting Gabbar, why go for Sambha. When you getting gold, why go for tamba.” Or the further one which goes, “When you getting Rambo, why go for Ranjha.” However, the rest of the lyrics, written by the pair of Siddharth and Garima, fail to grab your attention.
Gold Tamba, as a song, cannot be described as memorable. Anu Malik’s composition takes a familiar blueprint, and shoves the new words into it. In many ways, this song sounds very similar to Vishal-Shekhar’s 2016 composition, Jabra Song from the Shah Rukh Khan starrer, Fan. Co-incidentally, both the tracks are sung by Nakash Aziz.
The music video for this song has been shot in a market-like area, and features Shahid and Shraddha showcasing some really energetic dance moves. Batti Gul Meter Chalu is a film set in a small town within Uttrakhand. It has been directed by Shree Narayan Singh, who was responsible for the Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar starrer, Toilet: Ek Prem Katha. Like that film, this one looks to tackle a social issue as well.
This time it’s the problem of electricity theft and load shedding the small towns. The film is also partly a courtroom drama which manifests when a friend of Shahid Kapoor’s character commits suicide due to his exorbitant electricity bill. This is where Yami Gautam’s character comes in, as she plays the lawyer who is fighting the case against Shahid Kapoor. Apart from the Shahid, Shraddha and Yami, the film also stars Divyendu Sharma, Sudhir Pandey, Farida Jalal, Supriya Pilgaonkar, Atul Srivastava and Ram Charan.
Batti Gul Meter Chalu is all set to be released on September 21 all across India.
