T-Series has just released a new Atif Aslam single, which has been composed by Arko. Called Baarishein, this track also has a music video that’s live now on the T-Series YouTube channel. It features Atif himself, along with actor Nushrat Bharucha. Arko has a knack of writing and composing sad songs, and that is pretty much evident in this one.
Baarishein tries to describe the distress of a relationship that has fallen apart. Hence the lyrics, “Baarishein yun achanak hui toh laga tum sheher mein ho. Raat bhar phir woh jab na ruki toh laga tum sehar mein ho.” The video tries to show this anguish by contrasting happier times with the sad state that both live in today.
This music video has been directed by David Zenie, and was shot in Los Angeles. Recalling an incident during the shoot, Nushrat Bharucha said, “After the rain sequence of the song was shot in the freezing LA weather at 2.30 am, the owner of the house refused to let Atif and me in. He told us to dry ourselves outside and then come in. I guess he did not want to spoil his palatial mansion with Italian marble and such stuff. Atif and I went mental on hearing that we would not be let in when we were completely drenched and it was freezing outside.”
Atif Aslam has done a great job at rendering the song, but it’s the composition that sounds a bit rough around the edges. It gives you the impression that the song was composed in a hurry, throwing the good lyrics in waste. Despite this though, Atif Aslam salvages the track with his trademark singing style.
About the music video, he had this to say – “Pushing my limits was certainly an experience because shooting while you are on a US tour is not easy at all. Imagine performing almost five gigs a week coz weekends were packed and that too in different cities. Having said that, it was a lot of fun shooting in LA, doing last minute suit alterations and what not.”
