What seems to be working in Bollywood, are remakes of old classic Bollywood films and content based movies. Especially movies that are based in the smaller towns of India. It’s perhaps because of the relatability and such movies being more closer to real life.
Cashing in on the trend, and also playing safe, director Luv Ranjan, who is famously known for the Kartik Aaryan starrer, Pyaar Ka Punchama movies, is also planning a remake of an old classic as his next film. Luv Ranjan will be remaking the 1975 epic comedy, Chupke Chupke which was directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee. The remake will be produced by Bhushan Kumar.
While there were reports earlier that Luv Ranjan would be remaking another classic Pati Patni Aur Woh with Kartik Aaryan, Bhumi Pednekar and Ananya Panday. But looks like he has chosen to go ahead with Chupke Chupke instead. It’s not Kartik but the talented actor Rajkummar Rao has been roped in for the same.
Rajkumar will be playing the role that Dharmendra had done in the previous Chupke Chupke. It was the biggest hits of that time and is still enjoyed vene today. The film is relevant to the current generation too. Rajkummar will be playing a professor like Dharmendra. Dharmendra’s character was called Professor Parimal Tripathi. It will be interesting to watch Rajkummar do the same. Apparently, Rajkummar is said to have loved the idea of the remake too.
The old Chupke Chupke also starred Amitabh Bachchan as Dharmendra’s best friend, Sukumar Sinha, an English lecturer. Sharmila Tagore played the role of Dharmendra’s wife. The film was a series of hilarious misunderstandings.
So far, the director and only the male lead have been finalised and the makers are yet to announce the rest of the cast. Will Kartik play Amitabh’s role? Will Luv’s favorite cast from Pyaar Ka Punchnama also be given roles in this film? Well, we might just have to wait a bit to know that.
But we love the idea of Rajkummar playing a mischievous professor don’t we?
