Kapil Sharma’s second Bollywood outing Firangi is awaiting clearance from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The film is yet to be green-lit, as the makers have deferred its release date to December 1.
The movie was earlier set to hit cinema houses this Friday (November 24), but as the censor board is yet to certify the film, the release date was pushed back.
“We have seen the film today and we will issue a certificate shortly. It will be certified perhaps later in the day or tomorrow,” a source in the board told PTI.
Kapil, who is also producing the film, told PTI, “The film has been delayed a bit. The screening of the film at the CBFC happened today. We are yet to get a certificate from the board. We are now coming on December 1.”
Here’s the reason why the makers chose December 1 as its release date:
Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmavati was initially set to open in cinema houses on 1st December. However, since the film is facing threats from many quarters, its release was deferred by the makers earlier this week.
In fact, Padmavati’s new release date hasn’t been announced yet. Well, now that date is free, since earlier no producer wanted to release their film with Padmavati, Firangi team decided to fill the void.
P.S: This is Firangi’s 3rd new release date. It was initially set to release on November 10, while last month, it was announced that it would be releasing on November 24.
