The success of the horror comedy, Golmaal Again seems to have prompted some more filmmakers to explore the genre. Producer Dinesh Vijan has signed Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao for a yet to be titled horror comedy, under his company Maddock Films.
Written by Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK, this will be the second collaboration between Raj and DK, and Vijan after the 2013 zombie comedy Go Goa Gone, starring Saif Ali Khan, Kunal Khemu, and Vir Das.
The makers are yet to decide on the director for the film. Horror comedy is a genre that not many directors have experimented with in the past as most of the ones that were made did not do too well at the box office but the success of Golmaal Again seems to have given new hopes.
The horror comedy films like Gang Of Ghosts, Great Grand Masti, Golmaal Again, Hum Tum Aur Ghost, Tutak Tutak Tutiya, Bhootnath and Bhoothnath Returns etc. that have been made. They did not manage to make such a big mark as Golmaal Again.
A spokesperson for Maddock Films said, “Shraddha Kapoor is now onboard the film as the female lead. Shraddha will play a small town girl with a mystery surrounding her character. It’s a unique role and in a zone that the actress has not attempted before. She has really liked the script and gave her approval last week.”
Shraddha too shared the news via Twitter saying, “Very excited to share that I’ll be working with one of my favorite actors Rajkummar Rao and the hilarious director duo Raj and DK for a first of its kind horror-comedy!”
The makers are finalizing the locations for the film currently and should go on floors soon.
