What comes to your mind when you think of weddings? For me, it is family, cousins, mamas and chachas and chachis etc.etc. and of course great food, daaru shaaru, happy people, Sabyasachi and Manish Malhotra sarees and lehengas, lights, beautiful destinations, dhol and masti and lots of dancing… well, the list can go on if you are a true blue filmy and a huge Bollywood fan! Haven’t we seen all of it in our Bollywood films?
As it is, we Indians love spending on three things the most; cricket, cinema, and weddings! No wonder then that many of our Bollywood movies revolve around weddings and lavish wedding songs. Even Anushka and Virat Kohli had a Bollywood wedding song playing in the background in Bollywood style, during their wedding in the most romantic and beautifully done up venue at Tuscany!
Though Anushka and Virat’s wedding decor was an original idea by their wedding planners and decorators, we can always fall back on our Bollywood films when we run out of ideas for our wedding decors.
Filmmakers spend huge amounts of money to film these on-screen wedding scenes for their films.
Let’s take a look at some of the best wedding scenes from some of our Bollywood movies
Band Baaja Baarat

Though the whole film revolved around wedding planners and weddings, it was amazing to see the amount of effort and money that was put in the last wedding scene where a massive realistic looking set had been created with a huge stage to picturise the wedding of a businessman’s daughter’s wedding! The decor in this film was kitschy and very colorful and a lot of marigold flowers were used. This is one idea for people who like lots of colors to refer to!
Zindagi Milegi Na Dobara
The wedding scene at the end of the movie was such a classy one! It was not the typical traditional Indian weddings but such a pretty one with floral swings etc. The pastel color scheme with white flowers looked like a dream! The highlight was the heart-shaped floral arrangement in the pool.

Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani perfectly described the modern-day wedding. My favorite was Kalki’s wedding scene in Rajasthan where there were lots of diyas lit all around the place with marigold flowers strew around, and the mandap by the pool made the whole wedding look so dreamy.

The wedding scene in 2 States was far from being lavish but it is one of the classiest sets I have witnessed. It showed us how one can be minimalist yet classy. The cute umbrellas and the sparse floral hangings and the whole red and white theme was simple yet beautiful. What added to it was the temple by the beach!
From bachelorette and bachelor parties to dreamy wedding decors, singing and dancing, the wedding scenes from our Bollywood movies give us all some serious wedding goals! Hope these films help you with some much-needed ideas.
