Bulletproof coffee is the gaining popularity as a breakfast beverage. Containing butter, coffee, and oil, this high-calorie drink claims to prevent hunger and enhance the energy levels. However, this latest beverage fad has not received a green card from the health professionals and here are the reasons listed.

Though it is well known that this coffee type is rich in fat and energy, what you drink is going to fill the appetite for the next few hours and this does not guarantee the nutrition that breakfast provides. The refined oil and the processed fat used in this coffee have no essential nutrients. As a result, you are only going to reduce the nutrition load of your body by half.
Your Cholesterol Levels Increase

Unexpectedly, bulletproof coffee is loaded with huge amounts of saturated fats that can proliferate the cholesterol levels present in the blood. On average, 2tbsps of butter is recommended for bulletproof coffee and this is about 14g of saturated fatty acids. As per the American Heart Association, this quantity is too high.

To many, this type of coffee is considered as a magic beverage. The reality is it diverts you from the solid levels your body needs a day and your diet choices move away from the healthy levels. Your regular coffee is actually healthier than this fancy variety of coffee as there are too many ‘processed food’ sources in the latter that can let you go nuts in the near future. Also, the regular coffee is loaded with antioxidants which bulletproof coffee doesn’t contain.

When the idea of bulletproof coffee came into existence, CEO Asprey claimed that it can eliminate cravings as well as improve the mental health of the consumers. Looking at the scientific evidence part of this coffee, it seems that there are no complete scientific studies criticizing these claims.
