Recent speculations and studies have shown that tequila may just be the healthiest alcohol out there. Our multiple rounds of tequila shots in parties may even end up benefitting our health in more ways than one. However, before you jump with glee and add tequila to your monthly grocery list, let us go over a few facts and fags over the health quotient of one of our favorite alcoholic drinks:
Tequila And High Calories Are Not Friends

Tequila happens to be one of those blessed alcoholic drinks which are the lowest in calorie count. A shot of pure tequila will weigh in only 69 calories as compared to the vodka which has near about 100 calories. If you steer clear of sugary mixes with the drink, it is possible to slide a few shots of tequila in your daily calorie budget.
For gluten intolerants, tequila is perhaps the best option available as it is made from agave, a fruit, and is free of this inflammatory protein. Whereas, drinks distilled from wheat and barley contain high qualities of gluten.
For a gluten-free food option, pair roasted, spiced makhana with your tequila drink for the apt complement.
Blood Sugar Levels In Peace

The natural sugars in tequila, which are called agavins, are non-digestible and hence act like fiber, further aiding to keep your blood sugar levels in check. However, that’s true only for 100% agave tequila which is pure. As soon as the tequila is distilled, all these magical qualities vanish into thin air.
No More Hangovers

Fermented drinks are replete with congeners, the culprit responsible for hangovers. That is, however, just another ball in the court of tequila. Party guilt-free for you don’t have to worry about calling in “sick” at work the next day due to hangovers. However, this is true only of ‘pure’ and ‘silver’ tequilas, devoid of sugary syrups. Salmon is known to work wonders with tequila when it comes to hangovers.
Even though the above-mentioned facts are tested ones, there is no scientific proof of tequilas being a direct health benefit for us. It is, however, the healthiest available option when it comes to alcoholic beverages. When had in moderate quantities, tequila makes for a wiser option for your next booze session.
