If you are one of those over thinkers (we all are), Sundays cannot exactly be all chill for you. While people have Monday – Tuesday – Thursday blues, people like us (everyone) have Sunday blues. Almost all of us are fighting the Sunday syndrome on at least one of every two Sundays, we just don’t realize it!

What is the Sunday Syndrome you ask? Well, tell me what comes after Sunday? MONDAY! Well, EXACTLY! And what comes after Saturday? SUN fucking DAY! Get it? Alright, I will say it out loud. Sunday lacks the optimism and hopefulness that Saturday gives you because you look forward to the next day on Saturday. But on Sunday, you are all consumed with that sad, scary, and sinking feeling of watching the weekend slip away!

Yeah, now you get it. I know it sucks. But, like everything in the world, we can deal with this too.

Friday Is The New Monday

A lot of the fear of “weekend passing away” has to do with the fear of “dealing with work on Monday”. Now, this normally happens because we tend to have a habit of leaving a lot of work to be started or finished on Monday. Now, this habit will obviously feed fodder to your Sunday syndrome. The more you fear Monday, the more you will fear the slipping away of Sunday. Thus, here’s a trick. Do not allow yourself to get all lazy and negligent on Friday. Instead, give yourself a head start for Monday by working extra on Fridays. This will diminish your fear for Monday and thus help you with the Sunday Syndrome. Like- pick Friday for starting work-out again, give Mondays a break!

Like really? Sunday is supposed to be your fun day. The one day you get to have all the fun and be with your family, friends, or just yourself. Make the best of this time. Plan an outing. Go out and try new ice creams. Cook something new for the entire family. Forget about Monday and let yourself be in sync with Sunday and the spirit of Sunday. Sing. Dance. Listen to your favorite music. Better even, try your partner’s playlist and appreciate their music taste. The bottom-line is to give yourself and your mind a well-deserved break. At the end of the Sunday, you should not be mourning for the weekend’s passing but instead you should be looking forward to the next one.

You cannot deal with the cause of Sunday Syndrome. The Sunday shall pass. The Monday shall begin. That’s how it is. But you can still deal with the symptoms. I just told you how!
