The first step is to understand why you feel they are toxic and that can only be understood by noticing how their actions affect you. Once you can point out the exact reason why you find them toxic, you will easily be able to avoid them. For example- If you find certain someone toxic because they always make your achievements seem petty and insignificant, you can always avoid them by not telling them about your achievements at all. This awareness will help you do your best to avoid them.
You Can Always Talk It Out
Although, “talking it out” is the best way to face this satiation, it’s not that easy. You cannot just go and confront a toxic personality. You have to make sure that you don’t come across as confrontational. You are supposed to talk and not argue or fight or make a scene. So, the best way is to have a private conversation with them. Tell them exactly what action of theirs has made you feel uncomfortable. And tell them that there will be consequences of their unwelcomed behavior. Make sure, it’s a one way talk. You are not there to communicate but only to express your message.
Also, do not hesitate from calling out such people publicly if you find them exposing their toxicity to someone else.
Know Your Boundaries And Let Others Know It Too

First of all, make sure you realize your boundaries when it comes to investing time in people. Secondly, make sure that others understand and respect that boundary. If someone is trying to consistently take your time over a phone call, politely refuse to give the time by telling them you are busy with something important. You cannot be there for everyone who needs help. Think about yourself and do not let others break the boundaries you have built for your sake. Toxic people are not easily ignored; they will project you with their drama and emotionally blackmail you. But grow out of it and only think of your own peace of mind.
See? It’s not that difficult but yes, it’s not that easy either! The things you do for self-care! 😉
