Here is a person who has no idea why he is happy in life. And isn’t it how it should be? I think, not being aware of the reason behind your happiness and yet being happy is the purest form of happiness. This is the kind of happiness everyone craves for. All our life we waste so much time in the futile search of purpose, direction, and meaning. And yet, here is a person so purely happy without all of that! The really funny part of his quote is “What am I doing right?” And I don’t think there is any answer to that question. Because it doesn’t matter, sir! That’s the point!

“Do not take life too seriously. You will never get out of it alive.” – Elbert Hubbard

With the use of dark humor and a reference to the cycle of life and death, Elbert Hubbard has spelled out one of life’s most important lessons- to constantly have fun. You only have one life, live it to your fullest. Enjoy, breathe, dance, sing, write poetry, smile, give and take hugs, help people, and do everything that makes you happy. There is no better way of saying it- “You will never get out of it alive”. So why waste it? Cherish the time you have and do not stress upon petty things in life.

Did I actually read “Scratch where it itches”. Haha. As funny as it sounds, this quote has very deep and realistic meaning. Roosevelt is trying to explain his simple philosophy of life. ‘Fill what’s empty’ can be perceived as the corners of your mind that yearns for knowledge. The ‘empty what’s full’ can be perceived as all the negativity your heart has stored and locked inside. And the funniest line “Scratch where it itches” is a simple connotation of the philosophy that do what needs to be done. Funny, but how accurate!
