You must already be aware of Vijay Ratnakar Gutte’s latest political-drama movie “The Accidental Prime Minister”? The movie focuses on the reign of the erstwhile Prime Minister, politician and economist Manmohan Singh, which has been played by Anupam Kher. Though the release date has not been decided, Aahana Kumra has gained quite a lot of attention for her character of Priyanka Gandhi, the daughter of Sonia Gandhi.

Aahana Kumra is a theatre and movie actress, who is known for her roles as Taruni Sikarwar in the psychological thriller miniseries “Yudh” on Sony Entertainment Television and Agent Trisha Dewan in “Agent Raghav – Crime Branch” with Sharad Kelkar. Born in Lucknow and Ahana graduated from the Whistling Woods School of Acting to pursue her passion for acting.

Kumra made her debut as Taruni in “Yudh” with Amitabh Bachchan where she played the role of Bachchan’s daughter in 2013. In 2015, she starred as Agent Trisha Dewan in the crime fiction anthology TV series “Crime Branch – Agent Branch”. Next, Kumra played the role of Laika who has been sent to space in Sputnik II in the short film “Siberia”, for which she won the Best Actress Award for Third Moida International Awards. She entered the feature film arena with the drama “Sona Spa” in 2013, where she played a major character named Ritu. Her first feature film was the Tulu production’s “Kundla Café” in 2015 that was premiered at the 8th Bengaluru International Film Festival in 2016 and hosted the Prokabaddi series in 2016.

Her next role was the that of a young beautician called Leela in the dark comedy “Lipstick Under My Burkha” in 2016. Apart from the ones mentioned, she has appeared in various other web serials and short films, namely, “Queen of Hearts” (2016), “Official Chukiyagiri” (2016), “Inside Edge” (2017) and “It Happened In Hong Kong” (2017). She was nominated for the Best Actor in a Supporting Role and the Best Performance by an Ensemble Cast at the Star Screen Awards and FOI Online Awards, India respectively.

Kumra will be next seen as the daughter of Sonia Gandhi, as Priyanka Gandhi, who will be part of the political scene in the times of ex-Prime Minister Anupam Kher’s reign. The first look of the movie was released through Anupam Kher’s Twitter handle, but the actual release date is yet to be revealed.
