We surely won’t forget Sanjay Dutt anytime soon and the actor has taken all the possible measures to ensure that. Wait, did I say actor? I meant producer. Yes, he is back in the capacity of a producer for his upcoming venture titled Prassthanam. We have barely recovered from the phenomenal movie that was Sanju and now this news has only tickled our anticipation. His last production was way back in 2011 called Rascals. Prassthanam (There is a little twist in the Hindi title: figure it out yourself!) is a remake of a Telugu thriller which was also severely political in tone. The original had featured Sharwanand, Sundeep Kishan, Saikumar and Ruby Parihar. Deva Katta’s Hindi remake will star Sanjay Dutt, Amyra Dastur and the very handsome Ali Fazal.

The movie has over the years gained the status of a cult classic. Sanjay Dutt will play the role that will suit him the best, the presiding patriarch of a family- Loki. Hardly less important and still more interesting is Ali Fazal’s role that of his son whose love interest will be played by Amyra. There were brief rumors about Sooraj Pancholi playing this role but looks like we have a final verdict and we couldn’t be happier. The aroma of success came in early for the actor with movies like the Fukrey series and the Hollywood movie Furious 7. His Hollywood career has seen a major upswing especially with the fantastic biographical comedy drama Victoria and Abdul. The actor has also tried his hand at modelling.

The original movie had created quite the buzz in South. The director has incorporated a few changes and has improvised the script quite a bit to make it suitable for a quintessentially Indian audience. However, looks like the remake will be much more comprehensive than the original – the original went on for almost 3 hours but this one should be shorter. The remake will also be more inclusive and somewhat universal for the larger and diverse audience it is going to serve. Ali Fazal has quite a bit of a task on his shoulder but we have complete faith in him. The Hindi movie titled Prassthanam will start rolling from tomorrow. From there it’s all lights camera action and no looking back.
